Since its creation in 1990, FOSIS has been a key player in Chile's international cooperation, both as a recipient and provider of technical assistance in social policies for poverty alleviation. FOSIS's methodologies and programs are viewed with interest by countries in the Global South—including Latin America and the Caribbean—within the framework of international cooperation.
Currently, the interaction between state and non-state actors enables us to address global challenges such as climate change, food security, and humanitarian crises. Chile actively participates in international forums, contributing technical and human resources.
For Latin America and the Caribbean, the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals represent an opportunity to focus on international cooperation related to sustainable development and address the region's specific realities and needs. In line with the 2030 Agenda, Chile has focused its cooperation on overcoming poverty, promoting human dignity, human rights, and sustainability.
How does FOSIS provide technical assistance?
Through South-South cooperation, FOSIS exchanges knowledge and strengthens the institutionality of other countries in the region.
In the triangular cooperation modality, FOSIS collaborates with a third country or multilateral entity that finances technical assistance between Chile and countries in the Global South.
In addition, FOSIS works with governments and international organizations on issues such as food security, social inclusion, and micro-enterprises.
